Raise Up! We Have An Official Castle Tam Sign!

Trying to find our hostel?? If the taxi driver tells you we don't exist, we are full or his 'friend' has a better hostel, show him this picture.  Then smack him hard and get your money back.

As of June 11th we have a big black-and-green Castle Tam sign to mark our hostel location at, "100 metro al oeste de la Escuela Roosevelt."  Seven o'clock at night when the sun is going down is not the most convenient time to install a sign, but at least we have it.

First we got it delivered...fortunately in one piece.

Then the Ticos welded the mount. Look at the pretty sparks fly.

Then the Ticos hoisted the wall mount and attached the sign.  I would have video but this happened at 10 o'clock at night.  Not prime filming time indeed.

Then to top it all off, "Sorry sorry, manana, manana. We will install the lighting tommorrow..."  Another typical "Tico'ed" job.  Oh well.  Goodbye Tuanis Hostel, Hello Castle Tam Hostel.

  1. First off; Good Luck to you! The place looks great! I may have friends coming down this winter and if all goes well on your end, I'll send them down. We have some very nice, modest cabinas in Cahuita, if your guests are so inclined. Like you, we are constantly updating them but if you want to check them out, we have a FB page "Cahuita Guest House".
Second: Easy on the Taxi drivers. We have a taxi and my boyfriend drove it for awhile and he is the nicest man you could ever meet...but he would agree with the rest of the drivers being assholes. We have another driver for it now.
Maybe we will stop in for a beer and check it out. Is your bar open yet?
PS. Saw the Gogol Bordello tee shirt in your video. They are awesome live.

  2. Thanks we're doing quite well and the bar will be complete before high season. We often send people towards Puerto Viejo/Cahuita so I'll put in a word for your place.
As for the taxis, we have lost a number of guests at the airport who didn't heed our warnings and ended up on a $50 joyride to a roach motel. We have a good driver now who we trust, but we had to go through 3 to find him. I know there are some good guys.
Cheers for Gogol Bordello! I finally visited Hutz's home of the Ukraine this summer.
